TEMPORARY FIRE SAFETY NOTICE

Please help protect our homes, woodland and community

Due to the exceptionally dry conditions at present, there is a significantly increased risk of fires getting out of control.

Our existing fire and emergency services are already under considerable pressure. A fire that starts as a seemingly manageable bonfire or barbecue can spread rapidly in these conditions, particularly near grassland, hedgerows and woodland.

Milton Abbas Parish Council is therefore asking all residents to consider exercising temporary restraint and avoiding bonfires and barbecues wherever possible while these exceptionally dry conditions continue.

This simple precaution could help reduce the risk of fire affecting homes, gardens, woodland and the wider community, as well as reducing unnecessary demand on emergency services.

The Parish Council has also been made aware of the burnt remains of a tree stump in Jane's Wood. We would remind residents that lighting fires or carrying out burning on Parish Council land is not permitted.

We appreciate that this is a voluntary request for residents to take extra care, but with the current conditions, prevention is far better than having to respond to a fire that has become uncontrollable.

Please help us keep Milton Abbas safe.
